This award acknowledges the fantastic work being carried out in clubs across Scotland. This year, special consideration was given to how clubs worked to keep their members connected during the pandemic.
This year’s Club of the Year is Moray SUP Club - one of our newest Affiliated Clubs.
"Moray SUP club has played a significant role in providing a safe, welcoming and fun paddleboarding community in Moray.
The club was officially started only a few weeks before the COVID lockdown. During this time the club had weekly Saturday morning Zoom chats for anyone who wanted to join in. All the committee members created online quiz nights and kept members’ spirits up. They now have regular sessions every week but also run core sessions to get newcomers started, SUP polo, social paddles and other events. In a time of great difficulty for everyone, I know that many people look to their sessions with the club for an important social meeting and many friendships have been made through it. They have also attracted many women to the club. In addition, they run coaching courses for those who wish to further their skills and move into coaching others. Altogether a great club, inclusive and always moving forwards. We are all better, safer and happier paddlers because of this club."
Well done Moray SUP Club, and to all the winners and nominees this year. There's some outstanding work happening throughout the community and it is a pleasure to be able to recognise a small portion of it, through these awards.
