Pathway to Paddlesports with Backbone CIC

May 21, 2024

Paddle Scotland has partnered with Backbone CIC to support their Leaders for Change Training Academy which supports Black, Asian, and Ethnic individuals and organisations.

The 'Pathway to Paddlesports' programme is led by Paddle Scotland Development Manager Calum McNicol and offers participants the opportunity to try out paddlesports and even progress to a leadership role should this be something they want to do. The programme has already produced three qualified instructors with others on the same path.

Watch a video about the Pathway to Paddlesports programme here.

The next event will be the 'Introduction to Paddlesports' day on June 1st on Loch Faskally near Pitlochry.

Perfect for beginners, this full-day event includes all necessary equipment and expert instruction to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Participants will have the opportunity to try various paddlesports, such as kayaking and canoeing, and learn basic techniques and safety procedures. Transportation to and from the site is provided, making it a hassle-free day out. Whether you're looking to pick up a new hobby or simply enjoy the great outdoors, this adventure is an ideal starting point.

This Introduction to Paddlesports day is free for all participants. For further information, contact Pammy Johal or Calum McNicol.

The Pathway to Paddlesports programme then continues with the following events:

  • Paddlesports Safety & Rescue, 17th August 2024
  • River Spey Expedition, 6th & 7th September 2024
  • Paddlesports Instructor Training, TBC
