About Paddle Scotland
Paddle Scotland is the Scottish Governing Body for paddlesport, dedicated to the development, regulation, and administration of paddlesport in Scotland. We believe that paddlesport is something that everyone should be able to enjoy regardless of background or circumstances. We want to make the sport more accessible and will work in partnership with organisations to seek out how to remove real and perceived barriers that prevent people taking up and flourishing in our sport.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly organised, people-focused Coaching and Development Manager to oversee our qualifications and awards delivery, while supporting our coaching workforce. As the Scottish Governing Body for paddlesport, we operate as a Delivery Centre for British Canoeing Awarding Body (BCAB) qualifications and awards in Scotland.
Your primary responsibility will be ensuring the effective management of the delivery centre. This includes maintaining compliance with BCAB requirements, ensuring an adequate number of providers in Scotland are delivering courses safely and effectively and that learners are supported through the process of training, assessment and certification.
Our ideal candidate will have strong skills in managing qualification and award systems, a passion for sport and increasing participation, and a people-focused approach. You will be well-organised, with experience in systems and processes, and have strong IT skills. The role is desk-based and administrative, requiring comfort with technology, cloud-based tools, and the ability to quickly navigate an online database system. You will also need to address system challenges related to the complex structure of awards and courses.
As a people-focused organisation, you will engage regularly with coaches, leaders, paddlers, our provider network, internal verifiers, and the British Canoeing Awarding Body. Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to offer clear advice, and the capacity to build strong relationships are essential.
