SUP Safety video launched with Water Safety Scotland (WSS)

May 14, 2024

Following the release of the Water Safety Code for SUP, Water Safety Scotland (WSS) and Paddle Scotland have produced a new video with SUP Safety advice.

Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) has been growing in popularity at an increasingly fast rate in the last 10 years and is now a large part of the Scottish paddling scene. SUP is a wonderful and accessible sport but there are dangers associated that all paddlers must be aware of before launching onto Scotland’s waters.

Alongside Water Safety Scotland (WSS) we have produced a specific Water Safety Code for SUP (see below). As always, the code recommends that before any activity on the water, you should:

  • Stop and Think, Spot the Dangers
  • Stay Together, Stay Close
  • In an Emergency, Call 999

We have now also released a new video staring Paddle Scotland Development Manager Calum McNicol who discusses the key advice to help keep you safe whilst paddleboarding.

Please also remember to read the advice on buying second hand equipment.
