Seeking Support Module Tutors

March 10, 2025

Do you have a passion for paddlesports? Share your expertise and inspire others!

We are looking for experienced paddlers to become tutors for our BCAB Modules. These modules cover essential safety and navigation topics, including:

  • Weather: Understanding weather forecasts, interpreting synoptic charts, and making informed decisions based on weather condition for inland and coastal paddlers.
  • Tides: Predicting tidal movements, understanding tidal ranges and currents, and planning safe journeys.
  • Surf and Swell: Recognising different types of waves, understanding their impact on paddling, and developing strategies for safe paddling in surf and swell.
  • Navigation for Paddlers: Using maps, charts, and compasses effectively, planning routes, and navigating safely on rivers, the sea or open waters..
  • Open Crossings: Planning and executing safe open water crossings, considering factors such as weather, tides, and boat traffic.

As a Module Tutor, you will:

Deliver engaging and informative training sessions.

Share your knowledge and experience with passionate paddlers.

Help others develop essential skills for safe and enjoyable paddling.

Contribute to the growth and development of paddlesports in Scotland.

We are looking for individuals who:

Hold a relevant BCAB coaching or leadership qualification.

Have extensive knowledge and experience of the module content.

Have a passion for teaching and a desire to share their knowledge with others.

Tutor Delivered or eLearning?

The content in each module is available for learners to access as either tutor delivered or as a BCAB eLearning course. Tutor-delivered events offer a much more dynamic and interactive learning experience. Learners will benefit from real-time discussions, group activities, and immediate feedback, which can greatly enhance understanding and engagement. The presence of a tutor allows for personalised support, as you tailor your approach to meet the specific needs of the group. These events provide valuable networking opportunities, enabling learners to connect with peers and tutors.
