Tragic Loss to Scottish Paddlesport

September 9, 2024

Paddle Scotland is hugely saddened and shocked to learn of the sudden passing of Scott Ritchie, a key and popular member of the Scottish Performance Squad. He tragically passed away in hospital on Saturday after suddenly falling unwell at home.

Scott was an extremely ambitious and talented young paddler who recently competed for the GB Team in Kayak Cross at the Junior World Championships in Liptovsky Mikulas, Slovakia.

As well as his passion for Canoe Slalom, Scott successfully competed in Wild Water Racing, gaining selection in GB teams and achieving commendable results whilst competing against the best in the world.

We are deeply saddened by this news. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to Scott’s family, friends, fellow athletes and coaches at this time of great loss.
