This Coastal Navigation and Tidal Planning course is designed for paddlers carrying out coastal journeys including islands up to 2 nautical miles offshore in areas of tidal movement up to up to 2 knots and winds of up to force 4.
Through a number of practical planning exercises the training provides candidates with the tools to plan and navigate efficiently in moderate sea environment

The Coastal Navigation and Tidal Planning course is delivered in eight hours of teaching time, over one day or several modules. This course is also available entirely online through multiple interactive sessions.
Whilst this is a theory-based course the intention is that it is highly practical and candidates will participate in a variety of practical planning exercises.
Attendance Certificates are issued to successful candidates by British Canoeing following a recommendation from the course provider. A fee is paid to SCA/British Canoeing by the Provider:
