Pathway opportunities for Slalom Coaches

May 24, 2023

British Canoeing Awarding Body are pleased to announce that they have developed an alternative pathway for Slalom Coaches, and are now offering two regulated qualifications:

  1. Slalom Coach (Grade 1/2)
  2. Slalom Coach (Grade 2/3)

During a review of the existing pathway for Slalom Coaches it was evident that many clubs do not operate within the environmental definitions of moderate water (Grade 2/3), and that there was a need to provide opportunities for those coaching slalom within clubs to gain a regulated qualification.

'The new pathways better reflect the environments that Slalom coaches operate within, enabling those that have already attended a training course to choose the environment that they are assessed in, as well as providing choice to those at the start of their coaching journey' - Lee Pooley Director of coaching & Qualifications.
