It is now known that the unauthorised building work in the river was more extensive than initially identified. This is due to the river having risen since its low level in June. The SCA continues to recommend paddlers exercise caution when using the river as the river level changes and constructions may be hidden.
The slalom gates, lines and stanchions are currently disassembled.
The SCA has appointed an independent investigator to look into the circumstances surrounding the construction of the unauthorised structures, which in turn resulted in the
ending of the lease that enabled slalom use. Murray Main is a recently retired Superintendent with Police Scotland with 32 years experience. He has a proven track record of undertaking, managing and overseeing a diverse range of complex investigations, reviews, complaints and inquiries.
Until this investigation is complete the SCA will not make any further comment regarding the investigation. If anyone has information that may be relevant to the investigation, they are invited to contact
Murray.Main@btinternet.com.
