Membership fees have remained unchanged since 2018 and due to an upgrade from JustGo, our membership structure is being refreshed and a fairer discount scheme is being put in place.
From 31st January 2022, SCA Membership categories are being simplified, meaning more people will be able to save on their membership fees.
What’s changing?
Currently there are membership categories for Full, Junior and Recreational with subsequent ‘family’ categories for those living at the same address. Those in a family category get a discount with the main family member paying full price.
Family categories are being removed, simplifying the membership categories to just Full, Recreational and Junior. The discounts for people living at the same address will be applicable to all memberships, not just subsequent ones, meaning all members of the same family will receive a discount on their membership.
10% discount for anyone setting up an automatic renewal
From 31st January there will be the option to set up an automatic renewal by either direct debit or debit/credit card payment. Not only does this mean members don’t have to worry about renewing their membership at the end of the year, but they will also receive a 10% discount on their membership fees.
When logging in to JustGo, members will be able view their account, amend direct debit or payment card details, and add or remove optional extras such as craft insurance and magazine subscriptions.
Currently there is a £4 discount on a Full membership when paying by direct debit, which is only for the first Full member in the family. The new 10% discount replaces the old DD discount, and is available to all categories, Full, Recreational and Junior. It will also apply in conjunction with the new family discounts, for people living at the same address.
New family discounts
Those connected as a family in JustGo will automatically receive further discounts. Any family combination will receive a 10% discount. In addition, two Full memberships will receive a 20% discount, and 3 or more Full memberships will receive a 30% discount. We’ve carried out some detailed modelling of the current membership and have tried to keep these discounts representative, but also set a rate that is fair to a wider sector of the membership.
Previously ‘family’ categories had to renew at the same time as the primary member, however going forward those in a family group do not need to renew at the same time to receive the discount.
Membership Fees
For the first time in three years, there will be a small increase in fees in 2022. From the end of January:
For some people, these changes will mean a very slight increase, however with the new family and automatic renewal discounts some people will actually pay less on their fees. For example:
Membership type | Current price | New price from 31st January | New price with 10% automatic renewal discount |
---|---|---|---|
Full | £42 / £38* | £44 | £39.60 |
Recreational | £26 | £28 | £25.20 |
Junior | £19 | £20 | £18 |
2 x Full | £65 / £61* | £70.40 | £61.60 |
2 x Junior | £36 | £36 | £32 |
2 x Recreational | £49 | £50.40 | £44.80 |
2 x Full, 2 x Junior | £99 / £95* | £115.20 | £102.40 |
*when paying by direct debit, one Full member receives a £4 discount
When are the changes happening?
Changes will be implemented on the 31st of January, so anyone renewing thereafter will be able to take advantage of these new discounts.
If your membership expires at the end of January, you can renew at any point before 31st January with the existing prices, or if you choose to, you can renew from 31st January at the new prices.
