Kevin joins Paddle Scotland following 19 and a half years as CEO of basketballscotland. Under Kevin’s leadership, basketballscotland experienced significant growth and development, with turnover increasing from around £450,000 to over £1 million, and membership more than tripling from around 1,800 to over 5,600 members.
On the international stage, Kevin’s tenure saw Scotland achieve remarkable basketball milestones, including Scottish basketball players competing in the Olympics and Paralympics, and Scottish teams finishing 4th in two consecutive Commonwealth Games. Kevin’s emphasis on development and focus on empowering others has strengthened not only basketballscotland but also countless individuals within the basketball community.
Kevin also previously served as a director on the Boards of both Scottish Gymnastics and Scottish Archery.
This extensive experience within Scottish Governing Bodies ideally positions Kevin to hit the ground running at the helm of Paddle Scotland as he takes over from Stuart Smith, who will be leaving Paddle Scotland at the end of the month following over 20 years of dedicated service.
Kevin will begin his new role as Interim CEO at the beginning of February while he completes a phased departure from basketballscotland.
Kevin says: “I'm excited to get started with Paddle Scotland and I believe I can play a role in supporting the staff team and the Board through what is clearly a time of significant change. There will be a period of adjustment for the organisation but I hope to quickly move the organisation to a place where we can build on the strong foundations and exciting opportunities that have already been established by Stuart, Andy and the rest of the fantastic staff team.”
Interim Chair of the Paddle Scotland Board, Allan McKay, says “I couldn’t be more pleased to welcome Kevin Pringle to the Paddle Scotland team. The Paddle Scotland Board is committed to the continued success of Paddle Scotland and we are doing our utmost to make the upcoming period of transition as seamless as possible. We are confident that Kevin’s extensive experience within the sector and people-centred approach will stand him in good stead as we continue to focus on ensuring Paddle Scotland represents and supports all of our members.”
We hope everyone will join us in welcoming Kevin. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
