Help Us To Better Understand Ethnic Minority Communities

August 13, 2021

Help us to better understand ethnic minority communities

The percentage of our members, coaches, leaders, competitors, staff etc. who are from ethnic minority groups is very low (i.e. 0 – 4%). We lack visible role models, we lack diversity in positions of influence, and we lack connections with ethnic minority communities.

We want to welcome more people from ethnic minorities into paddling and to better support those who are involved, and so we are committed to working to improve this situation.

If you would like to be involved in shaping this work moving forwards, we would love to have your input. We are holding two online focus group sessions to discuss the barriers, challenges and solutions. If you would like to be part of this conversation please come and join us:

- Thursday 2nd September 1900 - 2030 - register here

- Tuesday 14th September 1900 - 2030 - register here

We are looking for people from ethnic minority communities, or those who have experience of working with people from these communities.

If you have any questions or comments, or if you want to share your ideas but can’t make it, please email us as equality@canoescotland.org
