We have been working over the past months to investigate possible sources of funding to allow us to increase and improve the facilities at the Grandtully Campsite and Car Park. We have been looking into whether we could put in a new shower/toilet building for use by those staying overnight which would give us separate buildings for day use as opposed to people staying overnight.
We have been making good progress and have recently received a short-life grant offer from NatureScot to fund the work to redesign improved facilities at the site.
This would be linked to expanding the current outer car park to give far more space for vehicles, based on our experience in 2020 of seeing the car park full on many occasions.
The timeline for this work is extremely tight due to funding conditions and the desire of NatureScot for organisations such as ours to make substantial progress with such projects. We are now seeking feedback from everyone who has an interest in our Grandtully site to tell us their thoughts on the current set up and how we should be improving it. This is your opportunity to input into the design process, recognising that any major development is heavily dependent on attracting external funding.
In addition to submitting your ideas and suggestions via an online survey, we have formed a Consultation Group consisting of a representative from each SCA Committee that has an interest in the site. Feel free to input your views through the committee(s) relevant to your paddling activities.
We would love to hear views from members of the Scottish paddling community to see what improvements you would like to see. Therefore, we are inviting individuals to fill in the survey linked below. The deadline for feedback via the online survey is Mon, 22nd Feb at noon. If you have suggestions after that time then you can still email them in to hello@canoescotland.org
We are hosting an online consultation for members and club committee members on Wednesday, 17th Feb at 7.30pm. This is your opportunity to find out more about this project and ask any questions/share your suggestions.
We will be hosting on Zoom. To register, please click the below.
