Tell us a bit about how you got into paddling?
I kayaked a little bit when I was in scouts, then a bit in college but I hadn't found my love for it yet. It was once I started my first role working in the industry I realised that I could inspire and develop people a lot more on the water and have loved it ever since, I particularly remember when I did my level 1 the provider mentioning he had never met anyone who preferred to be upside down.... its still pretty true!
What do you love about paddling?
Simple, its freedom and the community, its my place where everything makes sense and I can be what I want, challenge myself or relax, let the word pass me by or have a massive laugh. The community is what makes paddling so accessible and welcoming!
What do you think needs to be done to genuinely make "paddlesport for all"?
More opportunities, more boundaries broken down, more free chances to get into the sport!
Why are you passionate about Equality, Diversity and Inclusion?
I have worked with many people who have had challenges in their life and paddlesports has always been such a great way to support them, teach them self regulation and sometimes give them a lifelong love. I just believe everyone should have the same oppotunties to succeed and enjoy life in the best way fro them.
