Congratulations to the Delivery Partner Award Winners 2023

The annual Delivery Partner Awards celebrate those who have paddled the extra mile for the environment, built links with their local community or ensured everyone involved has had the chance to develop. The awards ceremony took place during the Delivery Partner Conference on 26th January 2023. It was inspiring and great to hear about the work that our Delivery Partners do to support the paddling community.

1 of the winners was Scottish based organisation, Willowgate Activity Centre.

Committed to the Environment Award: Willowgate Activity Centre

Willowgate Activity Centre has been working tirelessly over the past few years to help try to reduce the impact on the River Tay while increasing access to it for paddlers. They run a variety of projects and campaigns, including their ‘Pick it up Perth paddles’. These are free paddle trips on the last Sunday of every month where people go paddling for free in return for picking up litter in the river Tay.

Their most impressive find so far has been a 60inch TV! Congratulations to Adam and his team at Willowgate Activity Centre.

Sponsored by Gill, Willowgate have won a £500 Gill voucher.

"Gill are delighted to sponsor the Committed to the Environment Award and congratulate Willowgate Activity Centre on winning this award. The award celebrates individuals or a Delivery Partner that has made a clear positive impact on environmental issues. As a brand who strives to leave as little impact on the environment as possible, we celebrate those who demonstrate our shared passion for environmental issues."

Engagement Award: Red River Guiding

Red River Guiding only too aware of the devastating effect that combat can have on former military personnel. Richard instigated and facilitated a group of eight former military personnel to take part in their first canoe adventure on Bala Lake in North Wales. The participants had all been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or similar complex needs and were all at different stages of their recovery journey. Some had previously self-harmed, some remained alcohol or drug dependent, others were experiencing regular flash-backs or suffering from severe anxiety, depression or low mood. Following the success of this experience, Richard created the “blue space wellness sessions” for a military charity that he is involved with. These are run at various locations around the UK and include canoe and canoe camping experiences. Over 100 of these sessions were delivered to veterans and their families in 2022.

Quality Experience Award: Leam Boat Centre

Leam Boat Centre received multiple nominations, each stating high quality, engaging, brilliant, organised and the word repeated most often ‘outstanding’. One nominee said;

'They always go above and beyond to be friendly and helpful, delivering hundreds of safe and enjoyable sessions every year.
